Obituary For Jeffrey Lynn Woosley

Jeffrey Lynn Woosley, AOJN, age 68, of Racine, passed away peacefully on Feb. 2, 2011 when his failing body could no longer contain the free spirit within.

Born June 19, 1942 in North Little Rock, AR, he and his sister were raised in Dallas, TX by their Auntie and Uncle. He graduated from Sunset H.S., Rice University and the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia. Jeffrey served as pastor at Trinity Lutheran in Kenosha and worked 20 years at both Racine and Kenosha Dept. of Motor Vehicles.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jeff and Tom Evelyn Woosley, and aunt and uncle, Robert and Mayme Perry. He will be deeply missed by children, John (Pamela) and Angela; beloved granddaughter, Eleanor Rose; sister, Linda (Carl) Spratt; niece, Karen Burt; great-nieces and nephews, Sarah (Anthony) Muscle, David and Gregory; former wife, Carol; and close friends, including Fr. Travis DuPriest, Sr. Andrew John, Ruth Penney, Guy “Butch” Anderson, Robert Buckwalter, Samuel Trickey, and countless others who were very dear to him.

He will be remembered for his wry sense of humor, his love of language, and his spiritual worldview which blended Lutheran, Episcopal, Choctaw, and Buddhist traditions. Memorial service Saturday, Feb. 12 at 2 pm at St. Mary’s Chapel in Taylor Hall at The DeKoven Center, 600 21st St., Racine, with gathering 1 hour prior. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Order of Julian of Norwich, Julian House, 2812 Summit Ave., Waukesha, WI 53188.

The family expresses its gratitude to everyone in ICU and 2D at All Saints Hospital for their compassionate care.
