Cheryl Caye Banta (nee Anderson)

Cheryl Banta, age 79 of Coon Rapids, gained her angel wings on March 17, 2026. Born in Minneapolis on February 15, 1947 to Elmer and Marjorie Anderson, Cheryl grew up in Brooklyn Center and graduated from Osseo H.S.

Cheryl was an avid seamstress and loved to paint and tend to her flower garden. Recently, she was mildly obsessed with collecting gnomes and angels. She loved to watch any local sports and golf, especially cheering on the Vikings. She was generous and charitable, donating to any cause that asked—she just wanted to make the world a better place.

Cheryl was a loving mom to daughter Shannon (Michael Chubb) and a doting grandmother to grandchildren Alicia Chubb, Evan Banta, and Makayla Banta. She also leaves behind her beloved, most favorite sister, Barb (George) Heinrich, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her best friend, Jim Macheel; parents; stepfather, Kenny Jensen; and brother, Dean Anderson. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but we take comfort in knowing that she is forever free from chronic pain.

A celebration of her life will take place in the near future, complete with pull tabs, Bud Light, and good food.

Cheryl’s celebration will be held at Willy McCoys in Andover, Sunday April 12th, from 1:00-3:00. Please share with me all of your favorite stories of my mom.
